Is loft boarding safe?

Yes, when installed properly. Professional loft boarding ensures boards are securely fixed, weight is evenly supported, and ceilings below are protected. Many unsafe lofts are caused by DIY or poorly installed boarding.

How much does loft boarding cost?

Always a bit tricky to answer, as each job is different. Loft boarding costs vary depending on the size of your loft, the boarding system required, and any extras such as a new hatch or ladder. As a guide: Smaller lofts: from £600–£900 Larger lofts: typically £1,000–£2,000+ We assess each loft properly and provide a clear, no-obligation quote with no hidden costs.

Can you board over loft insulation?

Yes, as long as it’s done correctly. Modern insulation is deeper than most loft joists. Compressing it under boards reduces its effectiveness. A raised loft boarding system allows insulation to remain at full depth while creating safe storage space above it.

Following an initial and thorough survey by John, he and Dan arrived on Saturday morning and by lunchtime had transformed the loft into a really useful storage area.

The work was carried out with a minimum of disruption and in line with the NHBC warranty on the property. They were very much concerned with protecting the stairs and landing areas, worked conscientiously and cleared up afterwards.

I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to anyone considering this work; it was completed to the highest standard and they themselves were polite, personable and professional.

Can't rate the guys high enough! They really took their time when they came to measure and quote, gave me options and explained them so I could make an informed decision. They insulated using Thermafleece CosyWool which I really wanted (eco friendly and effective!), great communication, left everywhere very clean and tidy, cannot recommend enough!
